The dream of Wylie Memorial High School to bring the hopes and dreams of underprivileged children to fruition came from the guidelines and visions of our Founder- Principal, Miss. Mary Mathai (M.Ed.). Miss Mary Mathai was born in a small township of Kottayam District in the southern state of Kerala. She was born into a family that lacked nothing, owning tea and rubber plantations. After her initial schooling at Kottayam in a school run by Miss. Baker, a British Missionary from whom Miss. Mary Mathai drew great inspiration, she went for her higher studies to the Women's Christian College, Madras, from where she graduated. Her teacher's training was at the Queen Mary's College Madras.

Being of the same thought, Miss. Mathai decided to start a school in the memory of the Wylie family, the last of whom left for her heavenly abode in 1960.

In 1961, the Wylie Memorial High School had its humble origins in the first batch of fourteen students. Into the Fifth Decade since then, we are proud to be carrying on the good work left us by Miss, Mary Mathai.
